The government should be out of the marriage business.

But, it’s not.

For hundreds, if not thousands, of years governments of all types have assumed that marriage is between a man and a woman and have integrated that understanding into the fabric of their respective societies as they have recognized the family unit as the stable foundation of any civilization.

The U. S.  Supreme Court apparently doesn’t concur.  Conservatives and Libertarians part company on this issue, but I don’t think it will take long for all sides to see the detriment of this decision.   The activist left was supposed to be satisfied if this measure was taken, but we’ve already seen that they won’t be happy until the American Republic is destroyed and replaced with a Socialist tyranny.  Calls have already gone out to attack churches that refuse to marry gay couples.

Bestiality and Polygamy may not be right around the corner, but it’s only a matter of time before somebody tests the limits and exploits the loopholes.  Far bigger, on the scale, is the implications of the destruction of such a major underpinning.  No estimate on the planet accounts for LGBT citizens being more than about 2% of the population.  Yet, to placate the noisy group, the Supreme Court has set the playing field to damage the rights of the vast majority.

We are becoming a nation that cannot accommodate a single person being offended over anything.  Unfortunately, that world cannot exist.  For everyone to be free from offense, we can only descend into anarchy for no organized form of government can ensure that every single citizen has everything they want.

I miss the country in which I grew up.
